Turning the years

My dad's scratchboard of a locomotive at the turntable in Fort Worth...This became a family Christmas card, from an original drawing, when I was with him as a little boy. This is a portion of it only, and for my cousin Dan B Clark who mentioned it last night on facebook.

for you youngsters, a turntable was necessary to turn the big steam locomotives around, because they didn't move efficiently in reverse, unlike the diesels are ambi-directional.

Scratchboard involves covering a white surface with black paint, and then using a knife to scratch out a negative image.
