Long shadows

Long shadows

As I drove by the park,
the breeze barely moved the now vacant swings,
and nobody sat on the park bench.
The leaves swirled across the grass
like fleeting memories--
nearby the creek trickled steadily
like the passing days.

  1. I sit in shadow of balcony
    Dog sniffs through railing
    Glaring in morning sun
    mountain blue sky
    Edges against red apartment roofs
    Horizon missing

    Fleeting self--
    Mixed in material matters
    Counting on quiet climax
