Stardust dreams--Two days 'til Christmas

"Stardust Dreams," 5 x 7 watercolor Christmas card

"This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through..."
                          --Old Gospel Song

Stardust...home for eternity, lest we forget two days to Christmas what it was all about.

Physically, in present tense, our earthly bodies are indeed composed of the chemistry of the stars. But they're  not home.

Though the eons, earthbound,  time-bound and death-bound humans have tried to  seek safe homes in a troubled and world--witness stone-age caves, castles, walled cities  or today's "gated" communities.  But they have apparently  also gazed at the stars seeking  (worshiping)  lasting homes, hoping for security and timeless life beyond.

Is not the real Christmas not a celebration of that seeking, of that hope, of that belief, that promise, in eternity as home, that there is more to life than this physical world and physical bodies?

Those are the stardust dreams, two days 'til Christmas.

Star Dust--12 days til Christmas

"We are stardust," 5 x 7 watercolor card
We are not alone. Isn't that the real lesson behind the story of the star leading people to Jesus at his birth?
For Christians, it should be. For those who are not, the deeper meaning should be more scientific, but still truth.
Star-dust--we, and all creation are stardust... composed of the scientific matter of the expanding universe.
Why wonder that we are  composed spiritually of creation, that humans gaze at stars, that we are drawn to stars, journeying as they journey? Science hasn't abolished or negated their wonder, their magic. Gaze only at the believers in astrology, or in other religions.
This season commemorates a star, its journey, and a journey it beckoned humans to follow, 2,000 years ago, and since.

For those who believe in an omniscient, omnipotent, and especially omnipresent deity, that means God is in and of humans and all creation.
All is sacred, all is God. Wasn't that what Jesus really meant when he said,  "I am with you."
We are stars, we are a star journey.
"Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at the stars because we are human?"
--Neil Gaiman, Stardust
"The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself."
--Carl Sagan

From dust to stardust--watercolor

"Stardust," watercolor, 5 by 7, 300 lb. d'Arches
Colors. Creation, the universe, life, not dull dirt dust under our feet, of the grave, but the exploding, glowing dust of the cosmos, of the stars, of living, of eternity.
"From dust to dust." Sure, but consider the dust of the infinite, of eternity.
Stardust--origins and destinations.
No wonder colors exist, metaphors for creation itself. On drab days in nature, in living, in emotions, consider colors. Enlivening spirits, imaginations, souls from the ordinary, spurred by the extraordinary  every moment in the universe, the world and especially the people we encounter.
Day 21 of WorldWatercolorMonth challenge.
Palette--yellows, rreds, oranges, blues.
