Cabezon

The big head, in Spanish, a volcanic plug in northwest New Mexico, at the foot of which is the old ghost town Cabezon. My dad painted a picture of that town long ago, and I've often wondered about that town, now on private property on a dirt road.
I took this photo at the top of my blog a year ago, heading to Chaco Canyon to camp for a couple of days, enjoying the quiet and lonliness. Cabezon is a landmark you can see for miles in that wide open country. I can see it in my spirit for more than many miles.
